Google Book Search settlement undermines democracy

Google_book_search

The limits imposed on the free access to information through Google Book Search are pretty restrictive. A user can only view a few pages of a book before an arbitrary limit is reached, which the publishers determine because they hold the copyright. This is completely undemocratic and flies in the face of free access to knowledge.

founder how does this have anything to do with democracy? private owners of valuable content don't want their stuff being downloaded for free. on the surface, it seems totally fair. [QUOTE]
