Goomzee - connect with real estate agents via texting

(they just raised $1.5M) real estate agents place signs or ads about a property for sale that prompt interested buyers to send a text message carrying a unique ID code and receive more information, pricing and optionally some photos of the property in response. The agent and potential buyer can then connect in a variety of ways to discuss the properties for sale.

founder two major problems: 1) it's called goomzee. jesus christ. 2) this technology exists- it's called texting, email, and phone calls. [QUOTE]

founder agreed. fail. plus real estate agents have kind of become obsolete (with all due respect). [QUOTE]

founder i disagree. nobody wants to talk to obnoxious, pushy real estate agents. wouldn't it be better to send a text into space that says "i want a house between $200 and $250k in the park heights neighborhood" and get several responses without having to actually talk to pushy salespeople? founder i do believe that agents provide a service and should get paid for it. but i don't get what this company does.... "we get in the way so communications between you and your agent are more cumbersome!" [QUOTE]

founder i think the idea is by confining the agents to text messages you filter out the "hiya doing, bowlofsoup, great to meetcha, bowlofsoup, listen, bowlofsoup, can i call you bowlofsoup? my goal is to help you find not just a house, bowlofsoup, but a home. i'm in the home business, bowlofsoup, and i can tell you're an honest guy, bowlofsoup, so let me level with you, i don't want to be just in the home business, i want to be in the bowlofsoup business!" founder okay, but what agent would sign up for this? in order for any intermediary, such as goomzee or whatever the hell it's called, to make money, they have to provide value to both of the other parties. so if i'm a prospective buyer i *might* consider using it, if i haven't already chosen a specific agent. but if i'm an agent, i would want to talk to anyone i possibly could in any and all form factors.... except for goomzee. founder but like you said, buyers might consider using it. so imagine there are 100 potential buyers signed up, wouldn't you like to be the only agent to be on the supply side of that pool? and if there was only 1 agent wouldn't you like to be the second? [QUOTE]

founder putting aside the fuck*ng stupid name, this service seems to stress linking agents with properties as opposed to buyers. traditionally, randyc would call johnny real estate and describes the location, style, and price range for the house and johnny real estate would show randyc 12 houses. goomzee's strategy seems to be let randyc find his own house and johnny real estate will be the listing agent for that house to whom questions will be directed. johnny real estate will pay a fee to goomzee because he will serve as agent for both the buyer and the seller in the event of a sale, thus doubling his commission. founder speaking of dumb names, here comes sjchugh.... in theory, the market should work itself out so that the agent only gets one commission, and will be less than it would be had the agent performed work. [QUOTE]
