Wuala- your files on other people's computers in encrypted chunks

Wuala launches tomorrow in public beta. The service lets you store your files across the internets on other peoples computers. Files are broken up into tiny chunks and encrypted. From the article: "Wuala, the P2P ’social grid storage’ startup from Switzerland, launches its public beta tomorrow at www.wua.la. Users will be able to simply click on a button on the site to start the service (it’s a Java app). That’s it. You can drag-and-drop stuff into it for file backup, photo and video sharing, or making files available publicly."

founder I think this is basically a good idea. The two issues that they have to overcome are security (and convincing users of it), and business model. Twitter still doesn't make money and it's hugely popular. But, I think the companies that have come before, like XDrive show to some extent that this is something people would pay for. I'm on the fence with this one, just barely tipping toward THRIVE. [QUOTE]
