Is the Pope's rape cover-up "petty gossip"?

"With this spirit today we rally close around you, successor to (St.) Peter, bishop of Rome, the unfailing rock of the holy church," Sodano said. "Holy Father, on your side are the people of God, who do not allow themselves to be influenced by the petty gossip of the moment, by the trials which sometimes buffet the community of believers."

What do you think about the Pope's apology (for all that rape)?

"It is understandable that you find it hard to forgive or be reconciled with the church," he said. "In her name, I openly express the shame and remorse that we all feel." Benedict used his harshest words for the abusers themselves, saying they had betrayed the trust of the faithful, brought shame on the church and now must answer before God and civil authorities. "Conceal nothing," he exhorted them. "Openly acknowledge your guilt, submit yourselves to the demands of justice, but do not despair of God's mercy."

Pope decision angers many, does it anger you?

Pope Benedict's decision to lift the excommunication of four ultra-traditionalist bishops, including one who has denied the Holocaust, has angered many Jews and Catholics who say the bishops represent repressive and anti-Semitic currents in Catholicism that they want the pope to now explicitly repudiate.

Vatican Closer To Being Powered Entirely By The Lord

The Vatican wants to be the first "carbon neutral" state, which ought to be rather easy considering it's rather tiny. In order to do this the Pope is installing $1.5 million worth of solar panels to power the Holy See. Anything less, would be "an insult to God."

The pope is visiting Australia with a well publicized plan to apologize for the child abuse scandal. I give the guy credit for acknowledging these awful awful crimes. The question is, will it accomplish anything or is he wasting his time.
