Blumenthal was defiant Tuesday in responding to charges that he'd lied about being in the Vietnam War. The New York Times reported Monday on several comments he's made over the years, including this one from 2008: "We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam." After getting draft deferments for five years, Blumenthal became a member of the Marine Corps Reserve in 1970 and was stationed in the U.S. He never served overseas.

CT politicians push for decrminializing small pot possession

says it's not worth the cost... No one is proposing that marijuana be legalized, but Harp and Looney want to see possession of small amounts — 1 ounce or less — decriminalized, just as it was in Massachusetts in November. If the bill is approved, offenders would be given tickets and assessed fines instead of facing criminal penalties. Getting caught with a joint would be akin to getting nabbed for speeding.

(Oct. 10) - Connecticut's Supreme Court ruled Friday that same-sex couples have the right to marry, making the state the third behind Massachusetts and California to legalize such unions. The divided court ruled 4-3 that gay and lesbian couples cannot be denied the freedom to marry under the state constitution, and Connecticut's civil unions law does not provide those couples with the same rights as heterosexual couples."/
