The superbowl will feature a new "Superbowl Shuffle" commercial

During the first quarter of the Feb. 7 game, an updated version of the classic "Super Bowl Shuffle" will light up TVs in bars and living rooms across the country in the form of a cell phone commercial. The spot for Sprint Boost Mobilewill feature former starting quarterback Jim McMahon, backup quarterback Steve Fuller, defensive end Richard Dent, wide receiver Willie Gault, punter Maury Buford and linebackers Otis Wilson and Mike Singletary. Unlike the wacky 1985 original, the 30-second remake will also include former Bears coach Mike Ditka, "mixing" the rap behind a soundboard.

BERLIN (Sept. 8) - A German AIDS awareness group has come under fire for posting an online video that starts off with a young couple having sex in an apartment before revealing the male to be a grinning Adolf Hitler. Its closing message: "AIDS is a mass murderer." On Tuesday, a prominent German Jewish group and AIDS prevention advocates demanded the ad be withdrawn.

Hasbro, Discovery team up on new kids' TV network

NEW YORK (Reuters) – U.S. toymaker Hasbro Inc and Discovery Communications unveiled a joint venture on Thursday for a television network and website that will carry children's programs featuring brands like G.I. Joe, Transformers and My Little Pony. The new network will replace the Discovery Kids Network and feature new content for Hasbro's brands and its existing collections as well as Discovery's own shows, such as "Hi-5" and "Bindi The Jungle Girl."

Kid appears to cry real tears for anti-smoking commercial

The public service announcement has stirred debate over whether the clearly upset child was treated appropriately during filming. It was adapted from an original Australian version, whose producers said the boy's tears were real. "We didn't do anything dastardly to make him cry. He did get upset, but it was about a 10-second period that he was upset for and then his mother came back and gave him a big cuddle and everything was happy again," Edwina Pearce, a spokeswoman for the Cancer Council Victoria in Australia, told the New York Daily News.

"I'm a Linux"-Linux to compete with the "I'm a Mac" ad w/ contest

unlike Microsoft's campaign that paid Jerry Seinfeld $3 million for two commercials and acquired user videos for free, the Linux Foundation plans to compensate the winner of its contest with a free trip to Tokyo to participate in the Linux Foundation Japan Linux Symposium next October. The group hopes the submitted videos "showcase just what Linux means to those who use it, and hopefully inspires many to try it." The Linux Foundation may not have the $300 or $486 million that Microsoft and Apple spent on their battles between John Hodgman and his look alike, but it does have the support of flocks of dedicated Linux users and a strong online community to defend and promote whatever comes of the contest.
