Guy pays $48K for Michael Jackson's Glove at Auction

MELBOURNE, Australia (Sept. 5) - A bejeweled white glove Michael Jackson tossed to an Australian fan more than a decade ago sold at auction Sunday for $48,400, almost twice the estimated selling price. Warwick Stone, a buyer for the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, beat out five other bidders for the late King of Pop's glove, said Charlotte Stanes, spokeswoman for the Melbourne auction house Bonhams and Goodman.

Picasso painting bought for $12,000 expected to fetch $30M

(click [more] for image) Painter Enrico Dunati bought the painting in the early 1940's and died earlier this year at the age of 99. It is now going on the auction block. "Donati, who died in April at age 99, bought the painting in the early 1940s for $12,000. Painted in hues of green rose, jade and amber, the harlequin was a frequent motif in Picasso's work and often considered his alter ego."

Lots of analysis going on lately, including this piece contemplating the limit of the 'network effect.'
