half of all humans ever to live past 65 are alive right now

Mg20627550
In 19 countries, from Singapore to Iceland, people have a life expectancy of about 80 years. Of all the people in human history who ever reached the age of 65, half are alive now. Meanwhile, women around the world have half as many children as their mothers. And if Japan is the model, their daughters may have half as many as they do.

Beauty In The Face Of Age

Viewing the aging of the face as an artist does, you can see how the inner beauty of the person can be written on their face as they age similar to a computer writing data to a disk.

Young Blood Reverses Signs of Aging in Old Mice

"At least some age-related defects are reversible, and the factors to reverse them are carried in blood," said Amy Wagers, a researcher at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute and Joslin Diabetes Center, in Boston, at a press conference on Tuesday. Identifying those factors could lead to new strategies to boost resistance to infection, and perhaps a decrease in some cancers, she said.

Thinking younger can reverse aging

The men—in their late 70s and early 80s—were told not to reminisce about the past, but to actually act as if they had traveled back in time. The idea was to see if changing the men's mindset about their own age might lead to actual changes in health and fitness. Langer's findings were stunning: After just one week, the men in the experimental group (compared with controls of the same age) had more joint flexibility, increased dexterity and less arthritis in their hands. Their mental acuity had risen measurably, and they had improved gait and posture. Outsiders who were shown the men's photographs judged them to be significantly younger than the controls. In other words, the aging process had in some measure been reversed.

Research: Men's reaction time peaks at age 39

Is this a bogus conclusion or is there something here? "Scientists asked 72 men, ranging in age from 23 to 80, to tap their index fingers as fast as they could for 10 seconds. The researchers also did brain scans to measure in each subject the amount of myelin — a fatty sheath of insulation that coats nerve axons and allows for signaling bursts in our brains... Both the tapping speed and the amount of myelin was found to decline "with an accelerating trajectory" after age 39. "

Nonscientific book findings: marriages improve with age

The author interviewed 75 couples and found that contentment and happiness follow a "U curve" where couples are happy when they are first married, then resent each other, then grow affectionate once again. "They [older couples] exuded well-being, contentment. The biggest thing I saw in every couple, including couples whose sex life wasn't that thrilling, was that they had a huge amount of affection and closeness. If they had conflicts, they would often end in humor or they'd say, "Let's not have this conversation." The intensity of the conflict was much lower. There are few, if any, slammed doors."

Host: what's your secret to longevity? Guest: I masturbate a lot

The guest was Ernest Borgnine. From the article: "Ernest Borgnine is keeping busy - masturbating. The 91-year-old legend appeared on Fox & Friends to promote his book and was asked his secret to longevity. He leaned in and whispered (easily heard over the microphone) "I masturbate a lot." The hosts were in hysterics, rightly."
