Dell claims to be carbon neutral... right now.. today.

In my best attempt to not taint your opinion, here's a quote "Dell has claimed it is now officially a carbon-neutral company--five months ahead of its own projected schedule. The target was apparently met through improved energy efficiency at Dell's own facilities, combined with 'green" electricity purchases and investments in wind power in the U.S., China, and India, totaling 645 million kilowatt-hours and creating savings of 400,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide.'"

Most reliable car? Lexus, for the 14th straight year.

Who knew? From the article: "Lexus once again stands alone atop a closely watched ranking of vehicle dependability after Buick slipped from the No. 1 spot it shared with the Japanese luxury brand last year, J.D. Power and Associates said Thursday. It's the 14th straight year Toyota Motor Corp.'s high-end brand has held the top position in the annual study, which measures problems experienced by the original owners of vehicles after three years. Lexus had 120 problems per 100 vehicles, down from 145 last year."

A perfect 16? Doesn’t have same ring as that 10

Turns out, the perfect 10 wasn’t so perfect. At least not in the minds of international gymnastics officials. Four years after a series of scoring errors marred the competition at the Athens Olympics, fans who tune into gymnastics once every four years are in for a big shock Saturday. The perfect 10 is passe. Fifteens, 16s—maybe even a, gasp! 17—are all the rage. “I hate the new scoring,” said Mary Lou Retton, whose Olympic gold medal came courtesy of a 10 on vault. “The perfect 10, you don’t have to say anything to describe it. The perfect 10, you were perfect.”

Bin Laden's driver gets 5 1/2 years, parole possible in 5 months

(Keep in mind he's already served 5 years at Gitmo). The sentence is in, and you decide if it's a tad light. From the article: "Salim Hamdan's sentence of 5 1/2 years, including five years and a month already served at Guantanamo Bay, fell far short of the 30 years to life that prosecutors wanted. It now goes for mandatory review to a Pentagon official who can shorten the sentence but not extend it."

We may all be fat by 2048, says government study

" If the trends of the past three decades continue, it's possible that every American adult could be overweight 40 years from now, a government-funded study projects. The figure might sound alarming, or impossible, but researchers say that even if the actual rate never reaches the 100-percent mark, any upward movement is worrying; two-thirds of the population is already overweight."

Navy Sub has been leaking radation for 2 years - a big deal?

A leaky valve lead to a burst valve (it burst all over a sailor's leg) which led to an inspection, which lead to the discovery that America has been depositing its radioactive waste water all over the South Pacific for the past few years. Our bad. From the article: "after reviewing records of the sub, the Navy told Japanese officials Thursday that the Houston had been leaking much longer, since June 2006, and had made port calls to Japanese bases at Sasebo, Yokosuka and Okinawa before the leak was discovered. Officials also have told the governments of Malaysia and Singapore that the sub made port calls to those countries while leaking the radioactive water, Navy officials said. The Houston also made stops in Guam and Hawaii."
