SkyDeck: Analyzes your phone bill and tracks relationships

It has raised $4M. SkyDeck matches your contacts (from Outlook, etc.) with your phone bill and analyzes your calls, texts, and e-mails. It then gives you the power to see when you've last talked to someone, sort contacts by frequency of communication. You can also build apps, like billing applications to bill your clients, for example. "Beyond social networking and bill management, SkyDeck also offers a powerful API with a large number of practical applications. Included in the list of apps that are possible (though still hypothetical) are comprehensive lists of communication you’ve had with your peers, including Email, text messaging and voice - something that would be a boon for businesses that have to manage a large number of clients."

Is bass fishing a legitimate high school sport? It's CATCHing on

There's a bunch of high school bass fishing teams around the country, this is an article on one of them. "Coaches acknowledge bass fishing is viewed more as a low-key hobby for older men in khaki vests and floppy hats than as a competitive sport for teenagers. They too have been surprised by the enthusiasm among students. At Oak Lawn Community High School, an after-school meeting to gauge interest last spring drew 50 students...Bass fishing attracts some students who might not otherwise be involved in athletics and teaches them about conservation, coaches say. It also provides opportunities for parents and children to spend time together, lots of time—say, 8 hours in a boat."

Texas school board pushing "bible curriculum," should they?

Does any part of you think a bible curriculum should be in public schools? AUSTIN — Several state Board of Education members are encouraging public school districts to use a particular Bible curriculum that some experts predict will land them in court if they do. "It's absolutely jaw-dropping," said Mark Chancey, a professor of religious studies...They are promoting a Bible class curriculum that's going to get schools sued...It's just reckless to mislead school districts and pretend that this curriculum is appropriate...puts school districts in the role of favoring and promoting particular religious perspectives that are simply not shared by everyone." Lowe said, "The Texas Freedom Network likes to predict lawsuits and likes to stir up trouble."
