Sensorized pants for seniors

Virginia Tech researchers have designed sensorized pants that can detect when a person is wobbly, or about to fall. The applications for the technology are questionable, but hey, what do I know. It's worth a click just to see the picture of the sensorized pants, just to verify that I'm not making them up. From the article "The idea is that you sew these "e-Tags" (e-Textile Attached Gadgets) into a pair of pants, tie them into a home automation or health-monitoring system, and grandma can live independently for a few more years without you hovering over her all the time."

Is it ok for men to use skin products? A) Yes B) No

Funny writeup. A nugget: "I've always been the kind of person who believes that shampoo and conditioner could legitimately coexist in the same container; that soap should come in a bar and be called soap, not shower gel; and that natural sponges belong in aquarium exhibits, not shower stalls. In other words, I'm a guy."

Should Saudi Arabia be banned from the Olympics? A) Yes B) No

Why? Because women aren't allowed to compete. It's against the charter, explicitly. Oh yeah, and Qatar too. From the article, "Saudi Arabia has taken part in the Summer Olympics 8 times though 2004. Until now, 122 Saudi men have competed in the Olympics, but no women have. Qatar, over a period of 6 Olympics, has sent 82 men and no women. This year, Qatar will enter 22 athletes...all of them men."

House Formally Apologizes For Slavery And Jim Crow

The House issued a formal apology to black Americans for slavery and the governments sanctioning thereof. What's surprising, and perhaps insulting to a lot of people is that Congress issued an apology for interring Japanese-Americans during WWII first (a few years ago).

The Mojave Experiment - People actually like Vista?

Microsoft got a bunch of people, told them they were trying a new OS. . The people loved it, or at least the survey results indicate they liked it a lot. Turns out it was Vista in disguise. Their point? People are biased against Vista, and we should all give it another chance. The numbers are impressive- 89% satisfaction with the product.
